Before we start...congrats to Kevin Hass on the opening of his exhibit at the National Railroad Museum in Green BayWI where it was a balmy -45 degrees Now for f8 Pasadena Salon meeting where it was a very rainy Saturday morning... “Listen, if you can’t tell what your work is about, someone else will define it for you.” Joerg Colberg This week Mark Myers led a discussion about the dreaded "Artist Statement"...something we've all struggled with sometime in our artistic career. Mark made a Powerpoint presentation too big to enclosed with this blog post. Below is Mark's narrative on the presentation "The artist’s statement provides insight into the artist’s work and how it came about. The usefulness of the statement are many and include bringing clarity to the mind of the artist about their own work. Additional benefits include in the promotion of your work, fundraising and proposing a project or show. Elements of a successful statement and effective formatting of the statement were reviewed..."
