Open Session this week but managed to see and discuss some interesting things... iPhonography...will be a regular part and start for each f8 meeting from this point on. We had no contributions this week to see. Snapshot Aesthetic a session in early October but now is the time to start doing some research... A snapshot is popularly defined as a photograph that is "shot" spontaneously and quickly, most often without artistic or journalistic intent. Snapshots are commonly considered to be technically "imperfect" or amateurish—out of focus or poorly framed or composed. Common snapshot subjects include the events of everyday life, such as birthday parties and other celebrations, sunsets, children playing, group photos, pets, tourist attractions and the like. Rene showed a series of pictures from his friend Bert Ihlenheld, a photographer from Oregon, whose focus has been macro photography of wall surfaces. The images were abstract and several images are below... Bill talked about pasadenaphotographyarts OPEN SHOW for November 12th and encouraged members of f8 to submit their projects. The theme for that OPEN SHOW will be: "City Life Exposed" Freeways, Public Transportation and Streets Less Traveled ...open to your creative interpretation For further information and to submit your project, go to http://www.openshow.org and search for Open Show Pasadena-East LA Chris reminded everybody of the upcoming White Mountain f8 Excursion over the the Labor Day weekend 9/5 - 9/7 Contact Chris for details We then explored two technical advances of sorts The Modulo Camera...does some interesting in camera processing...almost but not exactly HDR...see below Then we took quizzical notice of a modular camera designed to assist teaching of photography and may be the harbinger of modular cameras for all of us Finally, Bill showed several pictures of his "Art of the City Wall" series printed on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Baryta paper...example of the visual images are below...sorry no tactile version to share for those not present
