It is interesting to follow the branches of certain schools of art photographer, and Chris Kleine brought us two contemporary exponents of the Adams/Weston west coast style, with Marty Knapp and Clyde Butcher who unabashedly follow in this linage of primarily landscape photography, with large format cameras using monochrome film. Both live close if not within their chosen theaters of light playing off the environs. It was interesting to learn their motivations for lugging these cameras around, and how Marty and Clyde have fashioned full time careers from this passion for clarity and form. The portfolio produced by Marty Knapp of his Point Reyes work was beautiful and revealing of a photographer adapting to digital print medium. Thanks for the tour of these photogs and that of your own large format work, Chris! Jim
